Leo Vidlak Memorial Award


Established in 1979 by friends, family and colleagues in honour of the retirement of Leo Vidlak from Lakehead University. A graduate of Prague University, his career was spent in Forestry and he emigrated to Canada in 1950 at the age of 50, after being forced to flee Czechoslovakia and spending almost three years in a Displaced Person's camp. In 1965, Leo was appointed Lecturer by the Faculty of Forestry (Natural Resources Management) where he developed and taught courses in Dendrology and Silviculture.
